Working at home is becoming more realistic for a lot of people. There's websites out there that are paying you per article, per blog, per review. I know when I first started looking for work at home opportunities years ago it was a lot harder to find these types of things.
I think it's great.
That being said, I want to explain how these types of websites that pay you a flat fee for your writing work.
There are sites that pay you an amount of money for articles. They can do this because once they pay for your article, they market it and usually make money off it using programs like Google AdSense. Where they pay you $5 for an article (just a random number, some pay more, some pay less), they know that they will be making money off your article indefinitely by monetizing it using affiliate programs like Google AdSense.
It's a pretty great setup, and if I had a large sum of money to invest in such an enterprise I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing. You make money off your stuff without having to figure out how to market it, and they make money just by marketing.
More and more sites are offering revenue sharing similar to the way Bloggerparty is set up, and I think that's even greater. What these sites offer you is the means to make money the way these big companies who purchase your articles do - meaning you can also make money indefinitely.
Be weary of exclusive rights.
Read the fine print when you submit articles to these types of websites. Not all of them take rights of your work, but many of them do. That means you're not supposed to repost those articles you've submitted elsewhere. That means they are no longer owned by you!
It might not matter to some of you, especially if it's something that just took you a few minutes to write. That's fine.
Just know what you're getting yourself into.

Thanks for this great post. Too often writers who are new to online writing don't understand what it's really all about. They end up making mistakes that cost them money and time because they don't have the information they need. Frustrated, they often give up. Writers who want to be successful at writing for the Internet can find great information for getting started at http://tinyurl.com/yoo5zm. It certainy helped me. I just wish I'd found it sooner.
